Woman slashed while getting off Toorak tram

A woman has been attacked with a knife while getting off a tram at Toorak.

Police say an unknown offender grabbed Kate, 23, as she walked down Wallace Avenue just before 1am on Saturday.

Kate suffered a slash wound to her abdomen while she tried to fight the man off.

She told Neil Mitchell she hasn’t gone outside by herself since the attack.

‘I think it’s going to take a while until I feel okay doing that,’ she said. 

CCTV footage has been released of a male suspect, who is believed to be aged in his late teens with a slight build and short dark hair.
