A woman has spoken out on 3AW Drive after her car, which was stolen by alleged underaged youths, flipped after a collision with another vehicle in Waterways this afternoon.

Tam, who has cerebral palsy, has a specifically modified car and expressed her frustration at the situation, which has left the driver of the second vehicle in hospital with minor injuries.

“It just puts a lot of people in a really sticky situation,” Tam told Jacqui Felgate.

“It is an issue that breaks my heart and it makes me so angry, and once again it is Victoria’s problem with youth crime,” Felgate said.

Victoria Police has since released the following statement:

Police are investigating a collision in Brighton on 29 July.

It is believed a stolen vehicle has collided with another vehicle on the corner of Dendy Street and Wells Street about 2.55pm.

As a result of the collision, the stolen vehicle has flipped onto its roof, with the driver and up to two passengers fleeing the scene on foot.

The driver of the second vehicle was transported to hospital with what appears to be minor injuries.

Police attended the scene, and a short time later arrested a 16-year-old male, who is assisting police with their enquiries.

Investigators believe the car was stolen from a Waterways address overnight.

The investigation remains ongoing.
