WORD ON THE STREET: Black Hawk training exercise in Melbourne’s CBD
WORD ON THE STREET: Black Hawk helicopters swarmed over Melbourne’s CBD on Tuesday afternoon.
But it’s no cause for alarm.
The Australian Defence Force was conducting counter-terrorism training.
Several 3AW Drive listeners reported activity in the air.
The ADF told Tom Elliott training would continue during May.
‘Residents may see or hear military Black Hawk helicopters, vehicles and soldiers carrying weapons and tactical equipment during the exercise,’ the defence force said in a statement.
‘Such activities will often occur during the night.
‘At times, the training will also involve the use of blank ammunition and other pyrotechnics.
‘The ADF will seek to minimise noise disturbances by alternating the choice of flight paths and activity locations, wherever possible.’
