Workers evacuated after fire breaks out at IKEA store in Melbourne’s south-east

Workers have been evacuated after a fire broke out at an IKEA store at the Springvale Homemaker Centre this morning.
Thick black smoke could be seen as drivers drove past, with eyewitness Scott calling into 3AW Mornings.
“We saw them before the fire brigades arrived, and they’re arriving now,” Scott said.

Fire Rescue Victoria have confirmed solar panels on the roof were involved in the fire which had also penetrated through to the ceiling space below.
It is unclear at this stage whether the fire started from the panels or from the ceiling space beneath.
