Shane McInnes has urged employers to embrace a modern hybrid working structure as latest data reveals a continued downturn in public transport usage.

Train use during weekdays is still only at 68 per cent of pre-COVID levels, suggesting employees are opting to permanently work from home.

The 3AW host said it was important businesses must accept “some form” of hybrid working model, even as the push continues to bring workers back to the office full time.

“The Monday to Friday nine until five work week is dead and gone forever,” he said on 3AW Afternoons.

“Surely as we start 2024, workplaces and employers need to accept some form of hybrid model that if you work all hours, you should be able to work from home 50 per cent of the time.”
