Yarra Cr Stephen Jolly slams far-right protestors

The former left-wing protest leader turned councillor who was the target of a protest at last night’s Yarra council meeting has slammed the actions of the far-right group.

Members of the United Patriots Front stormed the meeting with megaphones and Australian flags shouting, ‘Shame, Jolly, shame!’

The protestors were upset about the Australia Day decision made by council a few weeks ago.

“Lots of people disagree with council and that’s fair enough,” Cr Stephen Jolly told Neil Mitchell.

“But what happened last night was beyond the pale.”

Neil questioned Cr Jolly’s personal history ‘as effectively an anarchist’, which he denied.

“It’s a bit rich from you given the amount of protests you’ve lead,” Neil said.
