There are new calls for the way and where Aussies park their cars to be overhauled.

The idea coming out of an article in the Conversation, has urban planners across the nation pushing for street parking to be outlawed to allow for better flowing traffic.

Speaking with Tom Elliott, Associate Professor in Urban Planning at the University of Queensland, Dorina Pojani, said that Australia needs to start prioritising the aesthetics of their cities, and clearing them of cars is the way to go.

Press PLAY to hear why we should ban street parking

“I would like to see no cars being parked on the road at all, anywhere,” Pojani said.

The move comes after claims that Australia is currently in a period of oversupply, in both cars on the road and places to park them.

And Tom Elliott told listeners it’s a move that indicates anti-car behaviour is on the rise.
