“You want to protect your good players from that”: The position Tom Lynch won’t be forced into at the Tigers

Richmond’s GM of Football says there are no plans to have his star recruit pinch-hit in the ruck.

Dwayne Russell put it to Neil Balme that the Tigers’ ruck scenario has been seen by some as a “potential Achilles heel” and quizzed him as to whether Tom Lynch might be asked to step up and help out Toby Nankervis.

“Clearly he’s a very, very good key forward who will support Jack enormously,” Balme said.

“We may do but that’s certainly not the reason we recruited him, to have him run around jumping in the ruck.

“You probably want to protect your good players from that.”
