YOUR TOWN: 3AW Drive visits Belgrave

Gundagai has the Dog on the Tucker Box, Coffs Harbour has the Big Banana and Belgrave has a wizard (and Puffing Blly). 

3AW Drive program reporter Alyssa Allen went to Belgrave on Wednesday to find out what makes the town tick.

There she found a weird and wonderful place.

Why? Well she met the town wizard. 

His name is Baba Desi, a well-known character in Belgrave.

Maureen Miller, volunteer at Belgrave Op Shop and Dandenong Ranges Emergency Relief Service, says Baba Desi is an icon in the town. 

‘A lot of tourists come and want their photo with him,’ Ms Miller said.

‘He sometimes sits down with people and has a little talk with them. He’s just a presence in the town.’
