YOUR TOWN: 3AW Drive visits Luna Park

It was a trip down memory lane for this week’s Your Town.

3AW Drive visited Luna Park in St Kilda.

The theme park first opened on Friday 13, 1912 and is home to the Great Scenic Railway, the oldest continuing wooden rollercoaster.

Penny took her nephew and niece to Luna Park today, and said it wasn’t quite what she remembered.

‘It was still fantastic, it was a great time,’ she told Tom Elliott.

‘It has that great old world, fun park theme about it.’

Caller Wayne used to work there in the 1970s, he can recall The Big Dipper, The Rotor and The River Caves.
