YOUR TOWN: 3AW Drive visits the tiny pocket of Ripponlea

It’s the tiny pocket of Melbourne known as Ripponlea.

And 3AW Drive discovered it’s a suburb with a strong Jewish community, an upmarket shopping strip and an ongoing battle between two councils over a major intersection.

Your Town reporter Alyssa Allen visited Ripponlea, and found out it’s home to Australia’s first cul de sac.

Locals say the intersection of Hotham and Glen Eira roads is looked after by two councils, and is in desperate need of better traffic management and a lollipop lady.

3AW Drive’s Tom Elliott spoke to Andres Bonnici who runs Bonnici’s Hairdressing in Ripponlea, a family business of over 45 years.
