Your Town: 3AW Drive visits the Yarraville Pop-up Park

Yarraville’s pop-up park is a vibrant hub of activity.

Inspired by a similar concept in New York, the area features games, benches, flowers, and plenty of space for friends to gather.

The park appeared for a few summers around 2012-14, but such was the popularity of the area that the council was coerced into making a permanent space.

Kris Jansson, who manages the nearby iconic Sun Theatre, told Tom Elliott the park really is the heart of the community.

‘It’s where people meet, it’s where they eat, it’s where mother’s groups gather without being kicked out of cafes,’ Ms Jansson said.

‘People absolutely love it.’
