Lots of students take gap years. But are they good for you?

Amanda Gailiss, Youth Governor of Victoria, thinks so.

She told Tom Elliott she took a gap year between the end of university and start of work.

‘I think any travel you do when you are young, can really impact your life in a positive way, I would highly recommend it’ she said.

Ms Gailiss said quite a few of her friends took a gap year.

Caller Debbie says she took a gap year in 1971 because she wanted to study but felt too young to do it.

Instead, she went to a kibbutz in Israel.
