Youths wanted over vicious CBD assault

Police want the public’s help finding a group of youths who bashed a man before stealing his wallet in the CBD.

Investigators have been told that a group of young men approached the 22-year-old victim as he walked along Little Lonsdale Street and demanded his wallet and mobile phone on December 19 at 9.25pm.

When the victim refused to hand over his property, the group assaulted him by punching him multiple times to the head and stealing his wallet in the process.

The group then fled the scene.

The victim received minor facial injuries but did not require hospital treament.

Police arrested one of the group – a 17-year-old Dandenong man – on the night but are still looking for a further five youths.
