‘Bigger than one person’: Nick McKenzie blows whistle on murky corrpution scandal

Nick McKenzie has lifted the lid on an emerging corruption scandal involving the person who was gifted $600m by the Albanese government to help run a future NRL team in Papua New Guinea.
The team’s existence and funding are part of a government’s attempt to ward off Chinese interest in the region.

But the story has taken a dark turn after a company owned Wapu Sonk – who is leading the bid – was caught up in a corruption probe.
“It’s probably bigger than one person,” he said on 3AW Breakfast.
“This is the bloke that stitched up the whole deal.”
