The Vicar-General of Melbourne says all priests have been encouraged to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

It comes after a parishioner at a church in the Yarra Valley voiced concern that the priest who will be conducting her daughter’s first Communion was unvaccinated.

Father Joe Caddie, who is the parish priest at Parkville, told Neil Mitchell there were a “very small number” of priests he was aware of who had not been vaccinated.

“It’s disappointing that there are a few that have declined vaccination and that has got pastoral implications,” he said.
