Nick Daicos explains why he was ‘a bit upset’ with Greater Western Sydney

Nick Daicos says he hasn’t spoken with Greater Western Sydney ahead of the AFL draft, which he admits was “a bit upsetting” for him.

The Giants hold pick 2 in the draft, a pick they ironically got from Collingwood in a trade last year.

The Pies have committed to drafting Daicos as a father-son prospect, meaning he’d end up with the Pies even if the Giants drafted him, but Daicos isn’t expecting that to happen.

“My view is that they won’t be bidding on me, which is understandable,” he told 3AW.

Daicos admits he had taken that a little personally.

“That’s how I felt,” he said when asked why he was “a bit upset” that he hadn’t been asked by the Giants for an interview.

“I’ve worked really hard to hopefully be recognised as a top pick.

“I would have loved to be picked a little higher, I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens, but now my attention turns to knowing I’ll end up at Collingwood.”
