Hawthorn captain Ben McEvoy has fractured his neck at training.

The Hawks confirmed the awful news on Friday.

The club said he injured himself during a contest at training on Thursday.

Luckily, he will not require surgery and he’s expected to make a full recovery.

He’s expected to miss several matches as a result.

Jaeger O’Meara will fill-in as captain during McEvoy’s absence.
