Leigh Matthews explains why he can’t remember a more ‘dangerous’ time to play in the AFL

AFL great Leigh Matthews says it has never been more dangerous to play in the league, despite best efforts to protect players from concussion with recent rule changes and changing attitudes towards on-field violence.

“I believe the game is more dangerous to play now than it was in the 70s and 80s when it was supposed to be really rough and violent,” Matthews said on 3AW’s Wide World Of Sports.
