When the new AFL CEO will begin in the top job

Tom Elliott

A new AFL CEO has been appointed after a year-long search.

Andrew Dillon has won the race for the AFL’s top job, with AFL club presidents and CEOs informed of the appointment via a video-phone conference at 8.30am this morning.

Dillon becomes CEO-elect immediately, while outgoing CEO Gillon McLachlan will stay on until the end of the 2023 season to “ensure a smooth transition”.

Dillon, who takes on the role after serving as the league’s legal counsel and general manager football operations, will officially take over as CEO on October 2.
