Sam McClure is still not convinced about Geelong’s public commentary on Clayton Oliver, believing a deal is being worked on behind the scenes to send him to Geelong.

Geelong list boss Andrew Mackie told media on Monday they were ‘putting to bed’ any talk of pursuing Oliver.

But McClure told Wide World of Sports there’s more than meets than eye to the ongoing story.

“I don’t think Geelong publicly is the same as Geelong privately,” McClure said on 3AW.

“Andrew (Mackie) is very good at speaking and not giving answers, where (Melbourne list manager) Tim Lamb has been a lot more categoric.

“I still think that there are parties behind the scenes working on a deal to get Clayton Oliver to Geelong.”
