Former Essendon captain Dyson Heppell is excited about the season ahead for his former club, confident they’ll be able to take the next step in 2025.

The Bombers faded badly to miss the finals after a strong start last year, noticeably targeting youth as they look to regenerate their list.

Heppell, who retired at the end of the 2024 campaign, told Jimmy Bartel he was optimistic Essendon will improve this season.

“I’m really excited to see what they can do (this season),” he said on 3AW.

“They’re certainly a committed, professional group and they now know what it takes to match it with the best in the competition.”
