‘Mickey Mouse’: Leigh Matthews rejects mid-season tournament
Leigh Matthews believes the introduction of an AFL mid-season is doomed to fail despite serious consideration being given to the proposal.
Whether games are played mid-week or introduced to split the home and away season, Matthews says the quality between the competitions could be vastly different.
“What we’re assuming is that it’s not a mid-week competition, the thought is maybe to have the home and away season and 19 or 20 games,” Matthews said on 3AW Football.
