‘Players play dumb’: Joel Selwood’s strong comments on Steven May tribunal call
Joel Selwood has welcomed the AFL’s stance on head-high contact following the decision to ban Steven May for three games.
The Melbourne defender was rubbed out after collecting Carlton’s Francis Evans in last Saturday’s clash, with the Dees to appeal the decision at a hearing next week.
The Geelong legend urged players to “get with it” and adjust to modern standards on head-high contact.

“If you do slow it down, there is contact made to the head – if you’re a split second off, you’re going to be in trouble,” he said on 3AW Football.
“Sometimes I think the players play dumb, it’s changing before our eyes but get with it.”
