Melbourne great ‘very surprised’ by new coach appointment
Melbourne has appointed Geelong assistant Steven King as its next season’s coach.
King will succeed Simon Goodwin as coach of the Demons, despite Nathan Buckley being largely seen as the frontrunner.

Club legend David Schwarz says he was very surprised by the appointment.
“I was at the best and fairest the other night and (Melbourne officials) were glowing about two wonderful applications,” he said on 3AW Afternoons.
“They didn’t let it slip – it’s brave and they think they have the right person.”
