Bailey Smith’s dad admits his son has matured a lot over the journey as he eyes his first premiership.

The Geelong on-baller has won the 3AW Football Grunt Player of the Year, beating out Jordan Dawson and Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera.

Nick Smith said he admires his son’s work ethic, but said he found it hard watching Bailey play from the stands.

“The way Bailey handles himself is fantastic,” he said on 3AW.

“He’s matured a lot and loves his football team.”
