Mother breaks down in tears after daughter brutally bashed at Mernda Station
A 15-year-old girl was brutally bashed and spat on in a lift at Mernda Station on Monday afternoon.
The mother of the victim, Rebecca, became very emotional on 3AW Drive when talking about the horrific assault.
“She was just absolutely beside herself and hysterical,” Rebecca said about her daughter.

The story has garnered a strong reaction from the public, with secretary of the Victorian Police Association Wayne Gatt angered by what took place yesterday.

“It’s the government’s inability to address the significant resource shortage in Victoria Police, that means we simply don’t have enough police in our stations, on patrol, to deal with emerging crime,” Gatt said on 3AW Drive.
“I’m sorry to her, I’m sorry my members have to put up with this.”
Shadow Police Minister, Brad Battin, then reacted to the story and highlighted the “big problem” in Victoria right now.
