Essendon coaching great Kevin Sheedy has doubled down on his support for club legend James Hird to return as head coach.

Sheedy admitted it’s a “difficult and awkward” situation for the club, but he’s a big believer in second chances.

“He’s just got this killer instinct,” Sheedy said on Sports Today with Matt Granland and Kevin Bartlett.

“If he misses out, then Essendon will never, ever see him back again in regards to coaching.”
