A 10-year-old boy and his mother were allegedly victims of an unprovoked attack on Spencer Street on Tuesday.

The boy’s uncle, Kirk Holt, told 3AW Mornings host Tom Elliott he does not feel the city is a safe place for anyone.

“I’ve got kids who are just leaving the nest … they’re exploring and going out in the city and I’m constantly nervous, constantly worried about what’s going to happen to them,” he said.

“It keeps me up at night, literally it does, and this just adds more to it.”

Holt said both the boy and his mother are recovering from the incident.
