Will Ashcroft has opened up about the meetings with coach Chris Fagan that turned the Lions around after a poor qualifying final against Sydney.

After letting their best slip, Ashcroft said Fagan’s direct approach helped the side prepare to play their best footy.

“Fages was up and about, and we needed a bit of a rocket; we let our colours down,” Ashcroft said on 3AW Football.

“We were pretty embarrassed with our performance.

“Josh Dunkley was the only one who had an average game; everyone else was below. We were in a really low spot.”
