The AFL trade period kicks off today, with the futures of several big-name players still up in the air.

Essendon seven-time best and fairest winner Zach Merrett is set on a move to Hawthorn for a second straight year, but the Bombers haven’t agreed to any trade offers for the 31-year-old.

“They don’t want to give him away for what they consider nothing,” Anderson said on 3AW Breakfast.
