Brandon Ellis has opened up about the black armband he wore at the MCG today.

The Tiger midfielder grew up with Eurydice Dixon at the Carlton commission flats and was understandably rocked by her death.

“We all know what happened, so it’s in remembrance of her,” Ellis told 3AW Football post-match.

“It’s not acceptable, what happened … it was a pretty tough week.”

Dixon’s death has meant a renewed focus on women’s safety and an emotional Ellis said it’s not good enough.

“It’s just really sad that women can’t go walking alone,” he said.

“It’s men who have got to have a hard look at themselves.

“It’s just so sad – it’s rocked the community, everyone’s shocked.”
