RUMOUR CONFIRMED

A potentially dangerous situation at Melbourne Airport on Thursday night was avoided thanks to some quick thinking from pilots.

Airport officials have confirmed a plane was diverted from landing on a runway after the tarmac lights inadvertently switched off for around 30 seconds due to a software glitched.

The flight was quickly diverted to Avalon.
