Ross Stevenson has slammed the decision to axe Stephen Quartermain as chief newsreader at Channel Ten.

And he’s got one man firmly in his sights.

Channel Ten’s news director, Ross Dagan, only started in the job this month and has been quoted in press releases about the decision to appoint Jennifer Keyte to the main newsreading role.

“I looked up Ross Dagan on the internet last night,” Ross said this morning.

“Naturally enough, he’s from Sydney. That’s where these sort of ridiculous decisions are made.

“And he’s just returned from three years in Qatar.

“He’s a Sydney bloke who’s just come back from the Middle East, so he’s absolutely on top of what’s happening in Melbourne.

“Absolutely ridiculous…”

Pete Ford said Keyte’s deflection has all come down to money.

“What an absolute first class professional Stephen Quartermain is, to go on and read that bulletin last night,” Pete said.

“I think Channel 10 may be offering around $400,000.

“I know they’ll be spinning it as, she’s going back to her spiritual home, but no it is all about dollars.”

“I would think Channel 7 would have to be looking at him (Quarters),” Pete said.

Quartermain will fill-in as co-host of A Moveable Feast on 3AW alongside Ross Stevenson on Saturday for the first time, a booking that was made weeks ago.
