‘Absolutely terrifying’: Fire causes evacuation at Northland Shopping Centre

A fire has caused an evacuation at Northland Shopping Centre, just a day after a man drove a stolen car through the centre.

Channel Seven reporter Paul Dowsley provided some details, before caller Caroline spoke about how scared she was inside the shopping centre this morning.

“It was absolutely terrifying,” Caroline told Tom Elliott on 3AW Mornings.

Fire Rescue Victoria have released the following statement:

At 10:35am, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to an incident at Northland Shopping Centre after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported smoke billowing from the centre.

Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find an electrical light producing smoke.

This prompted an evacuation.

Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police are also on scene.
