Tasmania will have a team in the TAC Cup from next year.

The state has also been granted a provisional VFL licence for the 2021 season.

The AFL announced a $1.4 million investment in Tasmanian football on Tuesday, which also includes plans for a women’s under-18 side in 2020.

League boss Gillon McLachlan said the passion for footy in Tasmania need to be “harnessed”.

“Now is the time to unite,” he said.
