AFL boss responds to calls to ban alcohol at games
AFL boss Gillon McLachlan says the league won’t be banning alcohol at games.
It follows multiple incidents of crowd violence in recent weeks.
Alcohol has been blamed by some for the ugly scenes.
Neil Mitchell asked McLachlan if the league had considered a “dry game”.
“Not really, Neil,” McLachlan responded.
“What we have to have is people behaving properly.
“I don’t think we need to go that far.
“People should be able to have a glass of wine or beer or whatever they want at the footy.
“But you need to behave civilly, respect the other patrons and have zero tolerance to the behaviour, not the cause.”
