AFL CEO Andrew Dillon explains ‘Wharfie Time’ grand final decision

The Fremantle Dockers were given the green light to use ‘Wharfie Time’ once during Saturday afternoon’s grand final as part of a goal celebration.

Despite some pushback from the public, AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon told 3AW Breakfast hosts Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft that it was about creating an engaging fan experience.

“If we do get to that stage of the game, it’ll mean we’ve got a cracking game because it will be very close in the last quarter,” he said.
