AFL considers establishing Chinese academy

AFL boss Gillon McLachlan says the league would “love” to have a star player of Chinese descent, revealing discussions have taken place internally about establishing a Chinese academy.

The outgoing AFL chief executive shared the news while being asked about Sydney’s upcoming China-themed game.

“I think that would really connect Chinese-Australians with our game,” McLachlan said on the prospect of having an AFL star with a Chinese background.
