Thursday night footy this season has been underwhelming, with low crowds and lacklustre matches which has seen calls for it to be scrapped or refreshed.

On Wide World of Sports, Sam McClure thinks there is a possibility the AFL could “scale back” Thursday night footy as early as next season.

“The fixture is going to be completely re-done,” McClure said on 3AW Football.

“There is a desire and motivation for change across the competition.”

“The last couple of weeks there has been a private concession at the AFL, that maybe they jumped too soon into Thursday night football every week.”
