The AFL says it was powerless to stop Tuesday’s Ticketek disaster and has demanded a “seat at the table” to stop it from happening again.

AFL operations boss Travis Auld has told Neil Mitchell the stadiums ran the ticketing, not the AFL.

“This is the heart of the issue, Neil,” Auld said.

“We have this historic arrangement where our venues select their ticketing agents.

“We don’t have any role to play in those conversations.”

Expect that to change.

“We need to revisit that arrangement post these finals,” Auld said.

“We need to have a seat at the table.”

He said the meltdown was “unacceptable”.
