AFL would be ‘absolutely filthy’ with St Kilda defender over crude hit
Tony Jones says the AFL would be “absolutely filthy” with Jimmy Webster’s crude hit on Jy Simpkin in a practice match between St Kilda and North Melbourne on Sunday.
The Saints defender is facing a long suspension after the head-high hit, while saw Simpkin ruled out of the remainder of the game with concussion symptoms.
The Channel 9 sports presenter said it was a terrible look for the sport, especially considering the NRL’s much-hyped season-opening double header in Las Vegas on the same day.

“The AFL would be absolutely filthy (with this incident),” he told 3AW Mornings.
“This was their opportunity to really shine this week in particular, on the back of the NRL having an absolute field day in Las Vegas.
“It was just an awful look what transpired.”
