Andrew McGrath’s insight into ‘very challenging’ Darcy Parish injury

Andrew McGrath says watching teammate Darcy Parish battle through a back injury has been “very challenging”, saying the midfielder has endured a “pretty frustrating” off-season.

Parish is in doubt for Essendon’s Opening Round clash against Gold Coast as a result of an injury which saw him restricted to 12 games last season.

Speaking on Wide World of Sports, McGrath said the club is doing all it could to help Parish return to full fitness as quickly as possible.

“He’s still working through a back issue,” he said on 3AW.

“He’s had a pretty frustrating couple of months to be honest … to see him battle through knowing the type of worker he is, is very challenging.

“His body is throwing up some curveballs at the moment and we’re trying to get to the bottom of it as a club.”
