The Monash students who were gutted after Jetstar left their rocket in Sydney have been dealt another blow.

The Monash High Powered Rocketry team travelled to Albuquerque for a prestigious international rocket competition.

While they arrived, their rocket didn’t.

The Rumour File heard about the case on Tuesday, and Jetstar moved quickly, locating the rocket and putting it on a plane to San Francisco.

But the Monash students have now received a devastating call.

“Unfortunately we made the drive up to Albuquerque, where the rocket was supposed to be, when we got a lovely call from US Customs saying they found our rocket and had a few questions,” team lead for Monash High Powered Rocketry, Isaac Sims, told Ross and Russel.

“I think they were just a little concerned about a rocket travelling unaccompanied.

“Unfortunately that process has pulled it out of United’s system, and to get it back we have to file a claim, which I’m told could take between six and 24 hours to process before they’ll think about flying it.”

Launches at the competition begin tomorrow.
