‘Appalling’: Matthew Lloyd’s brutal assessment of Hawthorn and Sam Mitchell’s reaction

Matthew Lloyd has delivered a brutal assessment of Hawthorn’s sobering loss to Gold Coast on Saturday night, calling out the side’s “apalling” midfield performance.

The Hawks are still without a win in 2024 after five games and Lloydy says Sam Mitchell’s demeanor and comments after the match worried him.

“To me (Sam Mitchell has) always looked like a man in control and a man who knows where he wants to get to,” he said on Wide World of Sports.

“But on the weekend I saw a coach who is frustrated and disheveled during the post-match press conference. Their midfield was just appalling.”
