Could the unsociable Hawks be back?
At their all-conquering best, Hawthorn had a crop of players who played with a bit of edge, like Jordan Lewis, Luke Hodge, and Brian Lake.
And gun wingman Isaac Smith says they’re recovering that “mongrel” element of their game with current players like James Sicily and James Worpel.
“Sicily is a confident lad, he’s got a bit of spunk about him,” Smith told Sunday Sport.
“He’s got a bit of white-line fever. It’s always nice playing with guys like that.
“(Worpel) has a little bit of it in him as well.
“I think we’re getting a bit of that mongrel back, which is good.”
