Anthony Albanese has won a second term as Prime Minister with a comprehensive victory in Saturday’s federal election.
In a shock result, not only did Mr Albanese’s Labor party win in a clear majority, but opposition leader Peter Dutton was sensationally ousted in his seat of Dickson.
6pm – Polls close in eastern states
Polls have now shut in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
Vote counting will now begin in several battleground electorates.
