Bailey Smith ‘had to expect’ extra media attention during open training session
Bailey Smith is again in the spotlight after a run-in with a photographer during Geelong’s open training session on Wednesday.
The Geelong midfielder reportedly berated the Geelong Advertiser after she snapped Smith receiving treatment during the session.
Matthew Richardson remains a huge fan of Smith, but said he should have expected to be the centre of attention with media invited to the club ahead of the club’s Preliminary Final next week.
Press PLAY to hear Richo’s thoughts on Bailey Smith
“I’ve been a big supporter of Bailey (Smith) – I love a bit of personality in footy,” he said on 3AW Drive.
“But if it’s an open training session leading into a Preliminary Final, you just have to expect you’re going to be photographed.”
3AW Breakfast sports reporter Jon Anderson called on Smith to “grow up” when weighing in on the altercation.
“I hate that, absolutely hate it,” Anderson said.
Press PLAY to hear him strongly condemn Bailey Smith’s behaviour
“That’s just disrespectful, rude and really ordinary.”
