Bartel urges Cats to blood youth in 2019
Geelong great Jimmy Bartel is adamant the Cats’ premiership window hasn’t closed.
On the back of their elimination final exit at the hands of Melbourne on Friday night, Jimmy told 3AW Football the game can “change so quickly” but he was confident the Cats were well placed.
He said there were positives signs ahead of next season.
“What I want to see from the Cats next year is for them to transition (to younger players) while the stars are still there,” he said.
“I know everyone thinks that Dangerfield has to start in the middle but you’ve got to start the transition – Brandon Parfitt should get more midfield time.”
“You’ve got to take superstars like Gary Ablett away from centre bounces to give others an opportunity.”
