‘Biggest mistake’: Lloydy on AFL’s failure to lock in Leigh Matthews for Commission role

AFL great Leigh Matthews has reportedly withdrawn his interest in joining the AFL commission.

Matthews, who publicly declared his interest in joining the commission earlier this year, is understood to have grown frustrated with the lengthy process.

Matthew Lloyd says it’s a huge mistake on the part of the AFL.

“I would have been banging down his door,” he said on 3AW’s Wide World of Sports. “I’m disappointed for the game because I think he’s exactly what the game needs … I thought he would have been sensational.”
